Fraternal Values
Fraternities and sororities are values-based organizations founded upon the
high ideals of leadership, scholarship, friendship, and civic engagement.
Leadership Development -
developing leaders through active participation and the opportunity to hold leadership positions
Intellectual Advancement -
developing an appreciation for scholastic achievement and maintaining high academic standards among members
Lifelong Relationships -
developing and maintaining close, interpersonal relationships with peers and engaging in networking opportunities
Active Citizenship -
providing to local, national, and worldwide communities directly through service opportunities
or indirectly through philanthropic endeavors
In addition to these community values, each chapter upholds its own set of values through creeds, missions, and ritual. The combination of these values aid in the personal development of fraternity men and sorority women while providing an opportunity to learn outstanding citizenship.

Hazing Policy
Hazing activities are illegal in the state of Oregon and violate the following policies:
- University of Oregon Student Code of Conduct
- Interfraternity Council Bylaws
- Inter/National Fraternity and Sorority Governing Documents
If a chapter and/or individual members violate the anti-hazing policies listed above,
legal action can be taken against the chapter and its members.
Hazing is not tolerated at the University of Oregon.
In accordance with the Gordian Knot (our fraternity handbook), we at Delta Sigma Phi adhere to the policy of NO HAZING.
“Each chapter shall not conduct hazing activities. Hazing activities are defined as any act or attempt to embarrass, humiliate, intimidate, ridicule, shame, or endanger physically or mentally any person, or to compel physical activity, or do physical or emotional harm to any person or to require consumption or ingestion of liquids, foods, or other materials.”
“Any man that would haze a brother is not fit for membership in Delta Sigma Phi.
Any man that permits himself to be hazed by a brother is also not fit for membership.”
